The Church of the Holy Ascension, Gloucestershire

Overview

In June 2010 Matthew Hollingsworth of Spirit Architecture was appointed as Church Architect to undertake the internal re-ordering of the Church to provide the Evenlode Vale Benefice with a modern “Church Centre” within the seven villages and parishes, intended as a focal point and facility for the benefit of all and to create a contemporary service space, a warm and comfortable setting for the United services of all seven parishes, to hold training and teaching courses designed to strengthen and support the ministry and mission of the parishes as well as relocating the Church Office to Oddington.

The works completed in May 2012 included re-ordering the interior and installing under floor heating throughout the main body of the church heated by an Air to Water heat source pump and laying a new stone floor throughout the nave and north aisle.

In addition a WC facility was added to the church, kitchen facilities and new storage added, the vestry converted to an office area and the lighting completely renewed throughout, finally and complete Audio Visual system was installed to make the building truly all purpose while maintaining the core reason for the building as the centre of the Evenlode Ministry Trust.
